Jagua Henna Q&A

Frequently asked questions about Jagua

Q. What colour does it go?
A. It starts blue-grey and then developes into blue-black

Q. Is it safe?
A. Yes, it’s a safe and natural product which has been fully tested and certified.

However if you have sensitive skin we recommend that you do a patch test before use and check the ingredients listed below. In very rare occasions some people may be naturally allergic to the fruit used in Jagua, in the same way that some people can be allergic to grapes or figs.

Ingredients: Aqua, Alcohol denat, Genipapo Americana, Xanthan gum, Citric Acid, Potassium sorbate.

Q Is this PPD? The so-called “black henna” that is harmful?
A. No, it is NOT PPD (paraphenylenediamine).

Q. What is ‘Jagua’ and where does it come from?
A. Jagua is a natural dye, which comes from a fruit in South America; it has been used by indigenous tribes for many years for body adornment.

Q. How long does it last?
A. On average 10-15 days but as it’s a natural product it may have slight variations due to skin type and where it is on the body.

Q. Do I have to mix up the paste myself?
A. No it is all done for you; all you have to do is create your tattoo.

Q. I applied the Jagua gel and washed it off after 2 hours, as per instructions, and it has disappeared?
A. Jagua takes time to develop colour, don’t worry this is normal. Leave it
for 24-48 hours and wait for the JAGUA MAGIC TO HAPPEN!

Q. How many tattoos will a 5ml tube do?
A. Approximately 10 to 15 small designs.

Q. Once I open the tube will the Jagua go off and stop working?
A. Jagua tubes: for best results, once opened, use within one week.
Professional tubes and un-cut tubes: for best results ensure lid is replaced tightly after use to prevent oxidation of the dye. We strongly recommend that you use your Jagua within 2-3 months of purchase (you can now freeze Jagua to help prolong the shelf life. please see ‘Can I freeze Jagua below’). Due to Jagua being a natural product we can not guarantee the longevity of the gel.

Q. Can I freeze Jagua?
A. Yes you can! We recommend that you:
*Freeze your Jagua on the day you recieve it.
*Only freeze it once, do not defrost and re-freeze.
*Once defrosted use within 1 month.

Q. Does it hurt?
A. No it’s totally pain free.

Q. Is it safe to use on children?
A. Yes it is suitable for any age, as it is natural and safe, children love it. But again, if your child has sensitive skin do a patch test first.

Q. I am pregnant, is it safe to use Jagua?
A. Yes it’s totally fine; enjoy yourself and congratulations.

Q. Will it work on dark skin?
A. It works on all skin colours.

Q. Where on my body will it work?
A. Everywhere, even on the face, but avoid contact with eyes.

Q. Where can I find it?
A. See what appeals in our shop.

Q. Is there a wholesale rate?
A. Check the wholesale section, and please contact us for specific prices and delivery costs.

Q. Will Jagua stain clothes and furnishings?
A. Yes but only whilst still wet. Please be very careful when applying Jagua gel and waiting for your tattoo to dry.

Q. What happens if I go swimming with my tattoo?
A. Most swimming pools contain chlorine, which is bleach, so your design may fade. We suggest covering your tattoo with our after care cream (try the sparkly one!) or using a barrier cream.

A. We would recommend that you give your skin a break in between applications.

Q. Is it vegan friendly?
